Google Glass Doomed ! You must be joking Robert Scoble

Clearly some unhappy campers are moaning at the "£400/$600" prices kicking around the rumor mill for Google Glass when it hits the market in 2014. Not to mention the companies from social media that will / will not enter the space, again take with a pinch of salt, not sure why this has got some disgruntled people around but Ill try and explain why they are wrong.

Facebook isnt keen on getting in on the fun, and I can see why, ultimately it gives Google visibility of who and what is on its sharing site, the data will have to get to and from Glass somehow. Facebook numbers have plateaud too, something I am not shocked at, remember Facebooks last update also monitors your SMS / MMS messages too which means more data is going to Facebook than ever. Isnt it already intrusive enough ? So why do we need it on Glass anyway.

So using Facebook as an example of why Google Glass will fail or is "Doomed" is nothing short of a joke, I predict within 3-5yrs the numbers on Face(less)book will be in serious decline. Many including myself have either removed Facebook from their handsets or from the site altogether. Not sure Google Glass will cover my tears on that because there wont be any. 

Now lets talk about that price. 

How much did you pay for your first VCR or maybe a Walkman back in the days of wearable music. The premium was high because the numbers were low at the start, I remember my parents getting a VCR and paying over £600 ($800) for it - god knows how much that is in todays money.  Its not a difficult mathematical sum to work out, low numbers high price. Explorers know that the Glass isnt worth $1500 of anyones money but helping a product develop in such a way is key to its success. Not only does it gauge appetite for it, it can also gauge where and how it could be used.

With or without social media platforms - Google Glass has so many good applications being made for it, and methods of use. Therefore Im kinda glad it wont be bothering me informing of the junk Robert Scoble writes.

Hands on with Sony bigwig GPS enabled PSP games

Sonys senior marketing manager for PSP, was when mentioning that GPS-enabled games could eventually hit the PSP, but he definitely threw it out there. Speaking about the forthcoming GPS add-on for the PlayStation Portable, Koller stated that said module "changes the dynamics of GPS but also changes the way developers think about games on PSP, because you can start integrating GPS into it."


He continued on by mentioning that Sonys own first-party studios were "already looking at a number of things [involving GPS in games]," and concluded by asserting that a GPS game could land on the system as early as next year.

Canon PowerShot A580

The A580 has a decent selection of Canons shooting technologies. It offers no fewer than 16 shooting modes, including seven special scene modes such as Foliage, Fireworks, and Aquarium, the latter for capturing images of indoor aquariums without a flash. In Easy mode the camera makes all the decisions, Manual mode gives full access to all menu settings, exposure compensation, and white balance.

But most important, the A580 has a face detection and tracking system that worked as promised, keeping the selected face in focus even as the person moved among other people.

Though it lacks the sleek design of a compact model, with its bulky plastic body and bubble like curves, the larger body does accommodate features like an optical viewfinder, support for AA batteries, and a comfortable grip. But it does look and feel like a toy.

It measures 2.6 inches by 3.7 inches by 1.6 inches a little too big to fit comfortably in a back pocket and it weighs 7.7 ounces. Fortunately the right side hand grip is comfortable and just deep enough to securely wrap fingers around. It also houses the two AA batteries and the SD or SDHC card slot. At the front end of the grip is the shutter button surrounded by a zoom ring to control the 4x, f/2.6-f/5.5 35-140mm equivalent (4x) lens.

The lens is a touch wider and longer than its competitors. The power button and Mode dial are on the top of the body with the rest of the shooting options and menu navigation controlled by a directional pad and miscellaneous buttons on back. This aspect of the design works for me. Everything is easily recognizable from turning off the flash to switching modes to setting the timer. Theres a serviceable 2.5 inch LCD for framing your shots as well as playback (a slider to the screens right lets you jump between shooting and playing).

Motorola Rapture VU30

The Rapture VU30 has the same curvaceous, appealing shape as the VU204. We like the rounded edges and the smooth lines. It replaces the VU204s soft touch skin with a glossy plastic surface, but the handset has a solid ,comfortable feel in the hand. The hinge has a sturdy construction as well it opens and closes with a solid click. In many ways the VU30 also resembles the Motorola Pebl U6.

The Rapture is of average size (3.9 inches tall by 1.9 inches wide by 0.67 inch deep) and its relatively lightweight (3.4 ounces). The VU30 has a rather large 1.6 inch external display. It supports full color (160x120 pixels), so it will show photo caller ID in addition to the date, time, battery life, signal strength, and numeric caller ID. You cant change any of the options, however, which is too bad given the short back lighting.

The front face is a bit reflective, which means it shows smudges and fingerprints easily. The Raptures display also has two touch controls for activating the camera and the music player with the phone closed. The controls have vibrating feedback and theyre well placed at the bottom corners of the display. With the music control you can play songs, choose a playlist, and activate the shuffle mode.

Since the camera lens faces the rear of the phone, self-portraits are impossible. On the left spine of the VU30 there are a volume rocker, a speaker phone button, and a micro USB slot, which accommodates both USB cables and the charger.

On the right spine youll find a camera shutter, a voice dialing button, and a handset locking switch. Unfortunately, the 2.5 mm headset jack is at the phones bottom end, which is a rather inconvenient location when carrying the phone in a pocket while using the headset.

Besides the camera lens, the back of the phone holds the single speaker. You must remove the Raptures battery cover to access the memory card slot, but you dont need to remove the actual battery.

The Raptures 2.2 inch internal display shows 656.000 colors (320x240 pixels). Its bright and colorful, with sharp graphics. The menu interface is available in three styles, but each is relatively intuitive thanks to Verizons refined menu design.

You can change the dialing font size, the brightness, and the back lighting time. The VU30s navigation array is spacious and easy to understand and use. Theres a large circular toggle that has a comfortable, tactile feel, even though it is almost flat. It is a different color than the surrounding surface to give it better visibility. You can set it as a shortcut to four user defined functions.

Surrounding it are two soft keys, a dedicated music control, a clear control, and the Talk and End or power buttons. These controls are just about flush, as well, but small silver bumps make them tactile. The Raptures keypad buttons have a similar design. Theyre spacious and clearly defined, so we could dial and text comfortably without making mistakes. The keys have a bright back lighting for dialing in dim situations.

New Mac Book Pro price slam

Most ultrabooks are rubbish. Or too expensive. Had a thought about a new 13" MacBook pro. With an i7 upgrade and 16gb of RAM, it should do nicely. Until I checked the prices. A new 13" Retina MacBook Pro, with the spec I want comes out just shy of £1700 in the UK. 

In the US the same thing is approximately, $2000. This equates to £1236 at todays exchange rate, an effective premium/tax/rip-off of £440+ for living in the UK. 

As long as I can tolerate an American keyboard (and have £1236 going spare), maybe Ill buy one when I visit the US in January.

iPhone v2 0 Good Stuff to Come

Here are a few features that should brighten up an iPhone users day -

Mass Email Delete
It’s quite odd when you think about it that Apple, in its first try would not incorporate a feature like this their very first try. Then again they left a lot out. So with the latest firmware ready to be out in June, those of you iPhone users who use their device for emailing can rejoice, your cluttered up mail will be much easier to get rid off now than ever before, so instead of getting irked by the singular deletion feature you’ll able to pretty much wipe all your junk clean with a wave of your hand (quite literally as you can imagine thanks to multi-touch).

Bonjour
This system allows iPhone users to connect computers and other iPhones on a given network. Just like you would connect to other devices using Bluetooth by searching and connecting, Bonjour will be able to do the same on a network.

Full-Screen Mode on Safari
Another feature that should have made it in the first round and didn’t was a full-page web browser. The Safari browser, may be brilliant and all and occupy a good 90 percent of the iPhones superb display, but hey, why have 90% when you can have it all right?

Scalable Vector Graphics and New CSS Effects
The iPhone, with the latest firmware, would also have SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). So files can be compressed and their original resolutions can be maintained. The new firmware will also support CSS effects, which works like Flash for animations, effects etc.

PowerPoint Support
The iPhone would also have support to view PowerPoint presentations with the next upgrade.

Locally Stored Web-Apps
Users will also be able to store web-apps on their handsets and use them offline. According to Apple the latest firmware version would also be able to support functional web client-side database API when the network isn’t running.

Search
The iPhone will also be getting a search option for looking up contacts and other information on the device.

With these features in mind, which are seemingly just the tip of the iceberg, the anticipation for the iPhone to hit India is only getting more than just difficult to bear. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take too long or we’ll be seeing one only once a v3.0 is out. I don’t think India can wait that long Mr. Jobs.

I must say this game is epic, a killer app for +OUYA maybe ? 

While playing this game I thought of how I could sum it up easily, think RPG PaPappa The Rappa - its the best I can do to be honest. 

Its free to play but lots of in app purchases, which you dont have to do but I guess on the later levels it might be handy to buy some "records" which can be used to purchase new items from the superfly guy selling his shizzle under his jacket.

We want to contribute to the growth of these mobile applications, which is why were happy to announce our beta launch of AdSense for Mobile Applications. After all, advertisers are looking for ways to reach potential customers when they are engaged with mobile content, and application developers are looking for ways to show the best ads to their users. We have already had a successful trial of this service with a small number of partners, and are excited that we can now offer this solution to a broader group.

5 tips for using Google Buzz on your phone

A few weeks ago we released Google Buzz for mobile. There are many ways to access Google Buzz from your phone, but the web app (buzz.google.com) provides the most complete viewing and posting experience on an iPhone or Android 2.0+ device (more platforms are coming soon). Today, wed like to share some tips on how to get the most out of the Google Buzz web app on your phone.

1. Search for a place to post from
Tagging a post with your location is easy and fun. You can just tap the location box in the posting screen to add a place name or an address. Or, you can search for a place. Click ">" in the location box and scroll down a bit to find the search box. This will allow you to search for places nearby and tag your post with that location.

2. Learn more about a tagged place
When you see a location tag and the little red pin attached to someones post, you might want to learn more about that place. Click Show map to see the address of that place and a small map, which you can tap to see a bigger, fully functional map. You can also click the place link to view business details, reviews, photos, and more.

3. Choose to share privately or publicly
The Google Buzz web app provides options to share your post publicly on the web or privately with the groups you select. To create a new group to share privately, youll need to visit Buzz in Gmail or google.com/contacts from your computer. Your location is attached to your post by default, either as an address or a place. If you dont want it attached, you can simply tap the Remove location link. Next time you post, we will remember your choices for the sharing option (public or private) and for the location tagging option (whether or not to include location).

4. View mobile profiles and follow new people
Youll often find interesting public posts or comments made by people youre not following yet. If youd like to start following them, simply tap on their name to visit their mobile profile page, click the Buzz tab, and tap Follow. The Contact Info tab includes info pulled from their public Google profile that theyve chosen to share and any additional info you may have about them in your contacts, making it easy for you to contact them with one click.

5. Auto-finish @reply
When you want to include someone in a post or comment, you can use the @reply feature. On mobile devices, simply type "@user", which will be automatically expanded to "@user@gmail.com" for you. This will save you time typing on the phone.

Nokia drops support for Skype app on the Lumia 610

Nokia has announced that it is dropping support for the Skype app for Windows Phone on their recently announced Lumia 610. The reason for this, according to them, is the below par user experience of using the app on this particular device.



The following is the full explanation from Nokia regarding the matter:

“Nokia values the user experience provided by its products and services. Therefore, although the Skype Windows Phone version is workable on Nokia Lumia 610, after in-depth testing, we found that the user experience is not up to par with Nokia and Skype’s expectation and decided not recommending users using Skype on Nokia Lumia 610. In the future, users of Nokia Lumia 610 would no longer be able to download Skype Windows Phone version from Window Phone Marketplace. However, Skype Windows Phone version would still be available for other users.”

The reason for the poor experience is likely to be the 800MHz processor and the 256MB of RAM on the Lumia 610, whereas every other Windows Phone currently available has 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. We find this a bit strange, due to Nokias close relationship to Microsoft and with Microsoft actually owning Skype now, as to how they didnt manage to iron the issues out and make the app work properly on the Lumia 610.

This also makes us worry about how current apps will work when even more Windows Phones with slower processors and lower memory start rolling out later this year with the Tango update. If people who own Skype have been unable to optimize it properly for the lesser hardware, we wonder if third party developers will be able to do it.

Android powered Nokia XL is official costs €109

Much to everyones surprise, Nokia announced a third addition to the Nokia X family - the 5" Nokia XL.



The phone is made of plastic and at the back theres a 5MP snapper with LED flash. At the front, theres a 2MP camera perfect for Skype calls.

The Nokia XL+ is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chipset with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, which is expandable via the on-board microSD card slot (up to 32GB).

Nokia also throws in 1-month free of Skype premium for every Nokia X-family customer. Users will also get 10GB of free storage to the OneDrive cloud service for storing their files online.



The Nokia XL will be available in early Q2 for €109. The phone will start making its debut in growing markets, but Stephen Elop didnt specify which ones.

Search by Voice Comes to Google Maps 4 1 for Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 phones

We understand that typing on phones isn’t as easy or fast as talking into them. As a result, we’re big fans of letting you search in Google Maps for mobile in the most natural way possible -- with your voice! Not wanting the BlackBerry and Android folks to have all the fun, today we’re happy to announce Search by voice in Google Maps 4.1 on Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 phones.

Search by voice lets you easily search for anything by simply speaking your search terms instead of typing them. Just open Google Maps, press your phone’s “call” button, and clearly speak your search term like “Park Plaza.” Search by voice works with all the kinds of searches Google Maps for mobile already supports, including places, addresses (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway), specific businesses (The French Laundry), or types of businesses (sushi restaurants new york).

You may also notice a few other additions, including a redesigned settings page with Search by voice language choices. Also, if you find a problem with any information in Google Maps, you can use the “Report a problem” option to let us know.

SPIGEN Nexus 5 cases appear on Amazon hilarious comments on tow

Spigen and a few other brands have listed their Nexus 5 cases and screen protectors on Amazon already with a shipping date of October 31st. This jibes with a mid-October announcement and launch in the last week of the month weve heard rumored for the handset numerous times, unless the FCC shutdown throws a wrench in the unveiling event wheels.

Its not the first time case makers list their gear prematurely, before the devices have even been announced, on the basis of dimensions given them by the phone manufacturer beforehand, or simply guesswork. Whats hilarious in Spigens situation are the sarcastic reviews its ephemeral Nexus 5 slim fit and other cases have amassed already, weeks before the boys from Mountain View take the stage to announce the Nexus 5.

There are legitimate ones, which sound plausible, like "I bought this case for my Nexus 5 test unit and it is very loose along the sides. I would wait until the official Nexus 5 comes out and more case types are available to try."

Another one keeps it short and snarky: "This fits very well around my vapor edition Nexus 5, as snug as a bug in a rug. a word of caution, the case adds weight to the phone, the phone weighs exactly 0.0 pounds with out the case, the case adds a few ounces to that 0.0 pounds."

Our personal favorite review, however, is an exercise in sarcastic remarks as fruitful, as it is polished like one coming from a nuclear physicist. Kudos goes to G. Barry from San Jose!

I like my Nexus 5, but it has its quarks. Specifically, the design lacks symmetry. Overall, it seemed kind of unstable and couldnt hold a charge. Honestly, I kept having a nagging suspicion that my Nexus 5 had no mass.

I tried many methods to fix this. Most often, I would collide my Nexus 5 at high speeds with another Nexus 5 and study the results while sitting on my large Henredon couch. In the end, I felt like I was left standing alone in an empty field.

For the Ubuntu Edge, it’s $10 million down, $20 million to go. That’s because the proposed smartphone that would transform into a PC is aiming to raise $32 million on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo, and has committed to only take the money if it reaches its goal.

   There are only six days left in the month-long Ubuntu Edge campaign, and open-source developer Canonical has raised nearly $10.5 million. The previous record holder, smartwatch maker Pebble, had topped out at just about $10.3 million on Kickstarter (then again, Pebble’s original goal was $100,000).
The new device would run both Ubuntu mobile OS and Android, and convert into a desktop PC via a monitor. It would have much more memory and storage than the standard smartphone, and a sapphire crystal display. Canonical compares it to Formula 1 in the car industry, a so-called “superphone” that would inspire broader innovation.

How to install any Games Apps on Chinese Mobiles

Hello everyone, this is already our third post hacerca Chinese mobile games or games like putting on a Chinese Mobile . Certainly you must have someone serve our previous post, but some not.

In the discussion that was generated in the post games for chinese phone, I found a very good contribution made by Kike RIOS, a visitor to our blog who gave us a solution that apparently it has worked for many of our users. Below step detail, the moment I do not own any catch since I have not a Chinese mobile to capture (if someone does please feel free to send screenshots to rinse the post), the steps are as follows :

1. Download the following ZIP file and unzip

2. The SD OF CHINA FOR MOBILE folder contains the following folders, as shown in the following image:

3. Replace these folders on the SD Chinese cell, its SD memory had these folders, simply Let them create.

4. Restart the phone and type the following code: * # 66 * # , wait for a window, in that window you head out to where it says ECHO LOOP OR CYCLE ECO pressed key or turn ON (green button).

5. Out of the Ca pressing the logout button or cancel call.

6. Enter the following code: * # 220807 #. Done.

If the Chinese phone supports NES games, rest assured that the NES games appear in the SD. The games folder on the SD memory Mytrhoad / NES.
